Dissection

Popliteal Muscle

An incision was made into the deep lamina of the capsule, exposing the intraarticular portion of the popliteal tendon. The deep lamina of the capsule also had an attachment to the posterior part of the lateral meniscus. At this level, fleshy muscle fibers of the popliteus also attached to the capsule. The muscle then descended caudally and medially to insert onto the area above the soleal line.
