Discussion from Slide Seven

From the early dissection it was noted that as iliopsoas descended, there were fascial attachments to the pelvic floor, adductors and anterior thigh muscles. Although difficult to discern on this slide, there were small muscle fascicle attachments from iliacus, laterally to vastus intermedius and medially to pectineus. It may be hypothesised that these small fibres play a role in aligning muscle fibres of muscles below the iliacus as there is hip flexion. Furthermore, it implicates the synergistic nature of the neuromotor patterns and mechanism, as there is overlap between muscles with different nerve supplies.
