Relationship between the orientation of the muscle fibers of the lateral rotators of the hip and the functional movement patterns of these muscles.
Gabriella Bargon, Sue Deacon, Sharon Tsang, Lena Wallin
Purpose
To examine the lateral rotators of the hip from an anatomical perspective. The authors aimed to determine a relationship between the orientation of the muscle fibers, including their individual compartments and their attachments to the femur, and the functional role of these muscles. A second aim was to correlate these findings with the manner in which the posterior external rotators are frequently assessed clinically.
