Exercise Physiology Educational Resources 1998
Index of Debates and Fitness Testing Assignments
Maintained by Geoffrey R. Strauss, Senior Lecturer in Exercise Physiology
Introduction
In 1998, five topics for debate were suggested early in the course and the 10 students allocated to either the affirmative or negative sides of the debates. These debates were a change from the brief literature reviews required in 1996 and 1997. Also of note is the change in the unit name from Exercise Physiology 552 to Exercise Physiology 652 in association with the change in course from the Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Physiotherapy to the Master of Sports Physiotherapy.
These 10 students chose an assignment which required them to evaluate the fitness of a specific athletis sport or event. In addition to a review of the energy system requirements of the sport, the assignment required the selection of three appropriate fitness tests; one anaerobic test, one aerobic test and one other test that was important for performance and that could be selected from the literature.
