Exercise Physiology Educational Resources 2001
Index of Propositions for Debate, Brief Reviews and the Group Assignment.
Maintained by Geoffrey R. Strauss, Senior Lecturer in Exercise Physiology
Introduction
In 2001, nine propositions for debate were suggested early in the course and the students asked to consider and present both affirmative or negative arguments for the propositions.
One of these nine students also chose an assignment which required them to write a brief review of a topic of their choice. The brief review was along the lines of the reviews contained in the journal Exercise and Sports Science Reviews, Volume 28, 2000.
The other eight students choose to combine their efforts in a group project. The group project focussed on aspects of the reliability and predictability of isometric and isokinetic strength of the knee flexors in the dominant limb of males and females. Issues of predictability were explored through the correlations that existed between angle specific and average torque measures of strength at three speeds of movement. Students evaluated both their individual strength curves and the group data.
