Administrative Functions
- Professor of Physiotherapy
- Director of Clinical Programs
- The Director of Clinical Programs is responsible for timetabling and organisation of clinical placements and the allocation of students to appropriate clinical placements. They undertake induction processes for students, provide appropriate support for students in placements and monitor their progress. They are also be responsible for providing high-quality supporting materials and organising and monitoring assessment processes.
- Head of School
The Head of School is responsible to the Executive Dean for the management of :
- Strategic Planning
- The development of the School's strategic plan in line with the University's mission and objectives; its implementation and review, via quality assurance and compliance processes.
- Resource Planning
- Responsible for oversight and preparation of applications for funding and resources and securing provision of adequate resources. Develop and provide mechanisms for the equitable allocation of resources, teaching and administrative responsibilities; managing School finances; providing budget reports to staff; managing the School's services and facilities.
- Participative Decision-Making
- Ensuring opportunities are available for staff to identify issues and concerns, share information and contribute to decision-making, eg. at regular School meetings; informing staff of University-wide developments; consulting and delegating effectively.
- Staff Performance and Development
- The management of academic and general staff performance and development, through regular individual development, planning and review discussions, in order to achieve individual, School and University objectives. The development of workplans for members of staff within the school.
- Student Relations
- Providing leadership on developing and maintaining relationships with students in accordance with the University's guiding ethical principles, policies and procedures.
- Recognising excellent performance through feedback and rewards
- Upholding the University's policy on obtaining, keeping and motivating good academic and general staff, adhering to human resources and EEO policies and procedures, supporting training and development programs for staff.
- Building Relationships
- Maintaining continuing contact with staff and being cognisant of their problems, aspirations and successes; providing coaching, support and role clarification as necessary; team-building; motivating staff.
- Networking
- Liaising with other Heads of Schools and staff in the efficient provision of courses; effectively representing the School within the Division, University and professional bodies. Maintaining effective communication with the community including professional, educational, government, industrial and research organisations, including marketing of the School's programs.
- Conflict Resolution
- Resolving or managing conflicts between individuals, groups and areas; being responsible for managing student complaints, appeals and discipline.
- Program Development
- Developing the Schools/Area disciplines and ensuring academic leadership in course development; ensuring input from staff and students in course development and review. Developing and managing international activities and overseas students and their welfare.
- Information
- Gathering, analysing and presenting information on the School's profile and achievements for annual and other reports; responding to external requests for information about the School.
- Leadership in Teaching, Research and Community Service
- Encouraging and leading the School to pursue scholarship, academic excellence and professional development through teaching and/or research work and/or professional practice of high quality.
- Accountability
- Providing leadership and support to staff in the provision of a workplace free from discrimination and harassment.
- Projects
- Initiating specific projects which assist the Schools to respond to new educational demands of the government, community and/or employers. Contributing to and or leading committees, working parties, project teams, tasks either as an initiative of the School or in response to external demand. Performing such other appropriate duties as may be required by the relevant Executive Dean.
