Graduate Certificate in Clinical Physiotherapy (Continence and Women's Health Major)

Availability

This course is available for part-time or full-time study with mixed mode of delivery. Part-time students can make a semester 1 or semester 2 start but the course is only available to full time students in semester 1. Part-time students can complete the 100 credit points for the Continence and Women’s Health Major of the Graduate Certificate with Evidence Based Practice 750 and the three CWH specific units – Pelvic Floor Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation 650, Women through Life Stages 650, and Human Continence 650. Full time students are limited to the units available in first semester (Evidence Based Practice 750, Pelvic Floor Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation 650, and Women through Life Stages 650 and the two 12.5 credit units – Physiotherapy Clinics 751 and Physiotherapy Project 651).

Evidence Based Practice 750
Available as an internal unit.
Pelvic Floor Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation 650
This unit will be delivered over two 5-day blocks at the Bentley Campus in February and April and online learning and discussion throughout the semester. Student learning will be assessed via a presentation, assignment, and practical examination.
Teaching block 1: 18th - 22nd February 2012 (Sat - Wed)
Teaching block 2: 31st March - 4th April 2012 (Sat - Wed)
Women Through Life Stages 650
This unit will be delivered via online lectures, tutorials, and discussion throughout the semester, one optional weekend in March and one 5-day block at the Bentley Campus in May. Student learning will be assessed via on-line tasks, an essay, a case-studies assignment, and practical examination (day 3 of teaching block).
Education and Exercise in the Childbearing Year Weekend: 10th - 11th March 2012 (Sat – Sun)
Teaching Block: 12th - 16th May 2012 (Sat - Wed)
Physiotherapy Project 651
Available as an internal or external unit.
Physiotherapy Clinics 751
Supervised clinical placements relevant to 2 of the 6 modules covered in the clinical units will be available in the physiotherapy departments of Perth Hospitals. Placements can be completed on a weekly basis in the second half of the semester or in a block placement in May or June.

Human Continence 650
This unit will be delivered via online lectures, tutorials, and discussion throughout the semester, one optional weekend in July and one 5-day block at the Bentley Campus in September. Pelvic Floor Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation 650 is a pre-requisite for this unit. Student learning will be assessed via on-line tasks, an essay, a case-studies assignment, and practical examination (day 2 or 3 of teaching block).
Assessment and Management of Bladder and Bowel Dysfunction in the Child Weekend: 28th - 29th July 2012 (Sat – Sun) 
Teaching Block: 12th - 16th September 2012 (Wed - Sun)
Evidence Based Practice 750
Available as an external unit.
